Jack Hale to compete at Burnie New Year's Day Carnival

AUSTRALIA'S fastest boy, Jack Hale, has accepted an invitation from the BurnieAthletic Club to compete at Burnie's New Year's Day Carnival.

Athletics Tasmania president Mike Gunson today confirmed negotiations with the 16-year-old sprint sensation had reached agreement and Hale would particpate in the Invitation Backmarkers Handicap over 120m at West Park on January 1.

It will be the first time Hale, of Hobart, has raced in handicap conditions over the distance and it will be his only appearance in the Fulton Hogan Christmas Carnival series.

Hale's rise as an emerging sporting superstar gathered further moment at the weekend when he made it a golden double at the Australian All Schools Championships in Adelaide.
