ORGANISERS of the upcoming Christmas Carnival series have received an unexpected coup, with former champion Danny Clark to ride at Launceston, Latrobe and Burnie.

Cyclist Danny Clark will contest the heats of the major wheelraces at Latrobe, Burnie and Launceston carnivals.

Clark, 63, will contest the heats of the major wheelraces at all three carnivals, and while not expected to win, is guaranteed to draw plenty of attention.

The five-time world champion, who now lives on the Gold Coast, is most remembered for his 1977 Burnie Wheel win, which is enshrined in Coastal sporting folklore.
