To commemorate the club’s milestone 130th New Year’s Day carnival, a selection of articles, relics, photos and footage will be available for viewing until early December.
Over 200 individual items collected during the proud 130-year history of the Burnie Athletics Club are now on display at the Burnie Arts and Function Centre.
2010 Gift winner Sandy Loring, cycling world champion Tim Oshannessey and 1996 Gift winner David Downie.
Club president Ricky Aitken said the carnival has become a local icon since its inception.
“In its 130 years of existence, the club has created a significant amount of history,” he said.
“It’s only fitting that a collection of this nature is put together to allow all those involved with the carnival over the years and the community at large an opportunity to view it.”
As well as the display, an anniversary cocktail party will be held to celebrate the milestone.
Te event will take place on December 2 at the Burnie Regional Art Gallery.
Tickets can be purchased for $30 per person at the Burnie Sports Cafe, 77 Wilson Street, Burnie.
