Elite athlete Elly Graf held off a strong field to claim honours in the Invitational 120m sprint at Burnie on Sunday.

The sprint specialist finished ahead of Nathan Riali and Samantha Lind to take the win and secure her first victory of the series. In doing so she captured a handy prize of $1100 for her efforts.

She recorded a time of 13.41 seconds to take the win wearing the pink bib with Stawell Gift winner Brendan Ashcroft, Jared Gilroy, Tim Potter and Isaac Dunmall rounding out the field.

Following the invitational event, the Masters 300m run was held on West Park with Jerome Whiteley just doing enough in the final few metres to win.

Wearing the yellow bib, Whiteley ran a time of 35.07 seconds to pinch the win ahead of Grant Page.

Mark Canning also finished strongly at the line to finish in third.

Whiteley did well to reach the front with about 100m to go and hold off the pack close behind.
